I Laughed (2002)

By James Moats in Indianapolis, IN

i've got a closet full of hang-ups
and a hamper filled with doubt
in the laundromat of irony
i'll have to learn to live without
there's a wrinkle in my genes
and it's mine to iron out

in the aftermath
of the days following it's fall
when the manic panic starts
and defines fanatic for us all

just let it go man
you can't change a thing
you're part of the problem here
we just need some room to breathe

exactly how am i affected
i didn't touch or feel or see
is there a new world order
a collapsed economy

more like a slap in the face
i think i laughed when i first heard
it was a slap in the face
i think i laughed so hard it hurt

here is a change of subject
something to think about
i've got a closet full of hang-ups
and a hamper filled with doubt
in the laundromat of irony
i'll have to learn to live without
but there's a wrinkle in my genes
and it's mine to iron out
